It’s Monday. I walked 62 miles last week and my right foot is angry. I’m thankful to work jobs that require forward momentum, but the blister on my right pinky toe throbs and its friend, a compensatory blister, on my big toe, situated under a callous, have made making a dollar painful. I’d like to think my limp is kinda charming as I pick up the empty sandwich basket from your table.
This excessive walking is my way of dealing with anxiety, the anxiety we’re all feeling if we engage, even for a moment, with the news cycle. I also extrapolate and my imagination takes me to wild and dark places.
So I like to feel tired at the end of the day so my sleep isn’t jagged and sweaty. It works.
But know when to chill for a second with a soft smelling candle and a Willa Cather short story. And please, for the sake of all that is still good and right in this world, do something to take care of yourself, even if it makes you limp a little.

Bill, do you have good walking shoes? They can be running shoes too as long as the fit right. Go to Gary Gribbles at WPkwy. They know how to fit shoes properly according to how your foot is shaped. High arch, flat feet etc. Keep on a truckin!
